SUP Yoga

Join us for a calm and quite session of SUP Yoga surrounded by the beautiful mangroves on the Indian Ocean. Sacred Space Retreats offers hatha and vinyasa yoga, including meditation and a nice SUP savasana to conclude every practice. Being on the water requires students to be fully present and focused on their own practice, while connecting with nature and enjoying the challenge of keeping their balance. We’ll practice mindfulness as we work on strength building, stretching, balancing, and complete relaxation.

SUP Yoga is suitable for all levels from complete beginners to advanced practitioners and your class will be developed according to your experience with both SUP and yoga.

What’s included
The following is included for SUP Yoga:
  • All equipment (SUP and paddle)
  • Tour guide (equipped with safety equipment and first aid kit)
  • Yoga instructor from Sacred Space Retreats
  • SUP demo and lesson
  • 1 - 1.5 hour duration of yoga on the water
  • Refreshments, fresh fruit and homemade snacks

​Where
Arrive at the 2 Winds Paddle Sports – Zanzibar office located in Chukwani and you will be met by the team, we launch from the beach in front of the office. Contact us for directions/how to get here, we can also arrange taxi transfers at a competitive rate. If wind and tides permit then we can also run this tour at our second location - Sharazad Boutique Hotel, Jambiani. Get in touch with us to find out the best spot for you.

When
Due to the daily tidal changes in Zanzibar the sessions will run at varying times/days each week, please check with us. It is important to arrive on time for the tour so that we can ensure we get the right timing of the tides.

Duration
1.5 hours of yoga time including SUP demo and instructions. The duration can vary slightly depending on experience, level of fitness and weather/tidal conditions.

What to bring
We recommend bringing the following:
  • Sunscreen!
  • Hat
  • Sunglasses (with strap)
  • Towel
  • Water/reef shoes
  • Insect repellent
  • You can wear beach/fitness or even normal clothing but a change of dry clothing is recommended for afterwards.
    *Please be sensitive to local culture when considering your attire for the tour.

Single session - $40 USD per person

Other Notes
SUP Yoga is a physical activity so participants need to have a reasonable level of fitness and expect to have a thorough workout! If you have any health issues or injuries then please inform the instructor.
 
Important to note – this tour depends on ocean/weather conditions and your safety is our primary concern. Participants must be able to swim and have a reasonable level of fitness; this is a physically demanding activity and can be tiring.  If the conditions are too rough or we feel participants are not suitable for the activity then we will change the activity specifications to suit. In extreme cases we may cancel/reschedule the session. Please note that if the session is cancelled due to weather conditions then you will get a full refund or if possible we will reschedule at no extra cost.
